Curriculum

We offer a variety of curriculum and resources you can use to teach your students about dairy nutrition and the science behind local dairy farming. This is a great way to bridge the healthy dairy foods being served in your school’s cafeteria.

360º View: Dairy Farming in New England

This curriculum is geared towards grades 5-8. Our 360º videos allow students to explore how modern New England dairy farms use 21st-century technology to care for their cows and for the environment. Activities focus on deeper-level thinking skills and stimulate discussion about dairy farming, dairy nutrition, sustainability, and food waste.

View and interact with the 360º video recordings in the following ways:

– Desktop: the viewer can use their mouse to pan and look around.

– Smartphone or tablet: the viewer can either use a finger to pan and look around or directly point the device to where the viewer wants to look.

– Virtual reality (VR) headset: the viewer is virtually wrapped by the video and can simply look around as it is in real life, by moving their head.

Note: Use the 360º videos from YouTube if planning to watch on a smartphone, tablet, or with a smartphone VR headset. The 360º video functionality on the YMI website is only compatible when viewing on desktop. The videos will not function properly when viewing through their website on any of the other devices listed. 

This curriculum, geared towards grades 5-8, includes:

– Three lesson plans meeting common core standards designed to enhance your classroom’s health and science curriculum

– One poster featuring the steps on how milk gets from farm to table

What's Your Fitness Fuel?

This is a fun, educational classroom activity that involves creating an interactive bulletin board. It highlights important nutrients for fitness and sports nutrition and breaks down the differences between milk and plant-based beverages. Students will learn about key nutrients and how they promote healthy bodies to fuel physical activity.
