Peter Melnik is a dairy farmer from Deerfield, Massachusetts. He and his family operate their fifth generation 500-cow dairy, Bar-Way Farm, with the goal to make the highest quality milk in the most sustainable way possible.
Their milk is processed and distributed by Dairy Farmers of America (DFA). Bar-Way Farm is a leading pioneer in the cow power revolution – their methane digester creates enough energy each year to power the equivalent of 1,600 homes. The digester also creates valuable by-products including natural fertilizer and sterile cow bedding. The farm cares for over 700 acres of land and sells straw, hay, manure, and compost.
